Oil changes are quite important as your engine cannot function without fluid oil. You will lose oil over the course of several thousand miles so be sure to check the level at least once a week. Ask your mechanic if it's time for an oil change, or if you can simply top it off with a quart or two.
#1: The Sticker in Your Vehicle
At the time of an oil change, your mechanic will put a sticker in the corner of the windshield to let know when to have your next oil change. Keep you eye on it so you w can project when the next oil change service should take place.
#2: Change the Filter Too!
The oil filter should also be replaced at each oil change service. Because it catches the impurities, it can become clogged and prohibit the flow of clean oil the engine.
#3: Using Proper Oil
There is an oil rating specifically for your vehicle. Check your owner's manual or ask your mechanic so that you are using the right oil based on the season and climate in your area.
